Indeck Energy Premium Wood Pellets provide a lot of heat – on average, 8,000 British Thermal Units (BTU’s) per pound.

What is a BTU?

A:

A BTU is a traditional unit of energy used to describe the power of a heating or cooling system such as a furnace, stove or refrigerator. In reference to a unit of wood pellet fuel, BTU per pound (BTU/lb) is the correct unit, though it is often abbreviated to just BTU.

What types of wood species are used in Indeck Energy Premium Wood Pellets?

Our premium wood pellets are comprised of a blend of northern Wisconsin hardwood species including aspen, ash, basswood, birch, maple and oak.

Our premium wood pellets contain a small percentage of softwood species – approximately 5 to 10 percent.

What is wood ash content in a wood pellet?

A:

Wood ash content is the percentage of minerals and other inorganic material remaining after a wood pellet has been completely combusted – or burned. Some common elements found in ash include calcium, potassium, and magnesium.

Can I use Indeck Energy Premium Wood Pellets in my wood pellet grill or smoker?

A:

Our premium wood pellets contain no additives, scraps, or non-wood elements. They are manufactured with a mixture of northern Wisconsin hardwood species including aspen, ash, basswood, birch, maple and oak. To the best of our knowledge, there are no standards for barbeque
wood pellets.

Are Indeck Energy Premium Wood Pellet bags recyclable?

A:

Yes, all Indeck Energy Premium Wood Pellet bags are composed of number four recyclable plastic (low-density polyethylene).

How should I store my Indeck Energy Premium Wood Pellets?

A:

Ideally, Indeck Energy Premium Wood Pellets should be stored up off the ground in a dry location such as a garage, basement or storage shed. Wood pellets are very water absorbent. Any direct contact with water causes the pellet to act as a sponge. Additionally, the bags themselves are not water tight, containing microscopic holes to allow air out, which keeps the bag from bursting.

If you do store your Indeck Energy Premium Wood Pellets outside, it is critical you keep the protective hood and stretch film intact. Stacking bags on moist dirt or garage surfaces may result in damaged pellets.
